Regal Tessellation

Wow...I missed designing tessellations! So, just after Christmas I made the Regal Tessellation.
I decided to name it "Regal" since I see many patterns like these on crowns, royal garments, and others.

It is folded from somewhat construction-like yellow paper with a grid of 32 by 32.
I also have a gift for all of you! A Christmas-New Year gift!

I really hope the crease pattern is understandable. It's difficulty is intermediate, though it is not the simple "pleat-twist" like tessellation.

Happy Holidays!

Flowing Rivers Tessellation

This is my design, until someone comes to me, tells me this is their design since they invented it months before I did this, and beat the pulp out of me.

I had some difficulty in this design. Why? A square twist connected to another twist with a flat link will always go the opposite direction. For example, a square twist turning clockwise is properly linked to a square twist turning counter-clockwise.

With that note, notice that the individual square twists all go in the same direction. Meaning, the links are apparently not flat and are swerving. This gives the tessellation its "Ribbon" effect.

Making this model starts with a square twist. Then, make a square surrounding the twist using 4 90-degree pleat intersections, each side one unit from a corner of the square twist. Easy, right? It is! Until we get to the next.

The next step? Make a twist turning in the SAME direction as the first one. This will make a wave-like link between the two. Then make the big square around the twist using the pleat intersections. Be careful not to rip the paper! Hehehe.....

The tessellation looks wonderful though, especially when back-lighted.

I hope you can reverse-engineer this....Otherwise I'll just post the photo directions on this blog. (Oh my god I have to make another).

Cubefields Tessellation

Another addition for my designs, this is just a modified five-in-four tessellation, first designed by Eric Gjerde.
It really looks like a chocolate bar when I fold it with brown paper. It looks very great when it is back lighted. So, since this model and the Five-in-Four start similarly, the products are very different.
If you know how to fold the Five-In-Four Tessellation, you will be able to create this without a problem.

Fortunate Star

This is one of my designs.
I named this after my grandfather (Fortunato) who died August of 2013. Lolo, I miss you :’(
This star is made from a hexagon, and its way of shaping into a star is very similar to the finishing touches of the Blutenkreisel (C. Sprung) yet these two models are very different.
I tried to reproduce this star before, but I got some steps wrong. Because of that, I was able to create the Star Traia, which I will feature later in this blog.
image
This is also created from another star. The other star will also be featured later on.
I wasn’t able to make any diagrams for it yet since I can be very busy during this times of the year.

Polaroid Star

This is one of my designs.
This is also my second model that I designed, so I have no idea why I posted the Star Chocola first. :P
This is also pretty easy to make.
It reminded me of the Polaris Star hovering above the North Pole like a bee attempting to rape its victim. Then, after that thought, the brand of some old camera came to me.
And that’s why I named the thing “Polaroid”

I also made the diagrams already. Here it is….

.PS: None of you copycats out there EVER post or share the diagrams WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR APPROVAL.

Star Chocola

This is also one of my designs.
How I got the name? (You would probably not care anyway XD ) Strangely the star reminds me of chocolate. Then this chocolate chips delicacy named Chocola came to mind.
The model is pretty easy. It’s similar to a waterbomb base sandwiched between 2 preliminary bases. So, it’s SUPER EASY to reverse-engineer the thing.

But I’ll post the diagrams in this blog anyway

Crossflower

This is my design.
I remember making this for a friend during an earlier flood (not the same flood as the one I stated in the “Five-and-Four Tessellation) but then the bastard lost it.
Wow, what a waste.
Anyway, I wasn’t able to make the model for many years until when I learned that designing an origami model can raise your credibility as an origami artist or something like that.
Luckily, I was able to reproduce the steps, an now, It is already A LITTLE famous.

I haven’t made the diagrams, but when I do, I will surely post it in this blog.
It’s easy to reverse-engineer it from the picture, though.
